Superchips is one of the leading chip-tuning companies in the world, specialising in performance tuning cars for consumers, race teams, and fleets. They supplied tuned files to consumers via a team of technicians in the UK but dealers (garage owners) overseas.
The Issue
Owing to inherited system inadequacies, and an under-resourced accounts dept, tuned ECU files were ordered and used by overseas dealers prior to them being invoiced. This allowed dealers to unwittingly build up debts which had not been agreed which they then could not pay.
In order to carry on dealing with these businesses whilst still allowing them to trade meant they had to be quite careful how they managed the money in. Placing the dealers on stop caused bitterness and affected monthly revenues for both parties – not an ideal solution.
